David M. Struminger – New Board Member
October 20, 2009

TRSA is fortunate to have David M. Struminger join the Board of Directors

David M. Struminger is the president of Virginia Linen Service, Petersburg, VA. Founded in 1934, Virginia Linen Service is a family-owned, professionally managed, full-service textile rental company serving the hospitality and healthcare industries. Based in central Virginia, the company covers a market area of nine states from North Carolina to New Jersey and from the coast of Virginia to Ohio. Struminger represents the company’s third generation of family leadership. He is a graduate of St. Christopher’s School and Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business. Struminger, his wife Stacy and their two children Liam and Grace live in Richmond, VA. Struminger currently serves on several TRSA committees. He is a past chairman of the TRSA Marketing Committee and has served on the boards of the Richmond Weinstein Jewish Community Center, Temple Beth-El and the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.

The opportunities in the textile linen industry have never been better, Struminger says. “Although the industry continues to consolidate, the trend towards outsourcing to ‘the professionals’ is rising and all of the studies indicate that 50% of our industry’s potential customer base remains unserved by our membership. Our industry needs to do a better job of marketing the expertise that our membership has to offer. Many potential customers unfortunately still envision processing plants as ‘antiquated, dark, hot’ laundries, yet that perception cannot be further from the truth. We are an industry composed of many local family-run companies whose plants are highly automated and are professional organizations capable of handling 100% of their customers’ needs from hospitality to healthcare,” he says.

“I am honored to serve on a Board that both my father and grandfather served on. My father was the past treasurer and youngest president of the association. TRSA is stronger today than ever before in its history. Our membership is fortunate to be represented by a chairman and president who have ‘lint in their blood’ and a passion to ensure success of this industry. I look forward to working with the Board and continuing to help this industry in any way I can,” Struminger says.
