Virginia Linen Donates over 2,000 Washed Garments

Virginia Linen Service, Inc. recently teamed up with Planet Aid to donate their laundered garments. Planet Aid is a nonprofit organization that collects and recycles used clothing and shoes to protect the environment and support sustainable development in impoverished communities around the world.

There were over 2,000 washed garments consisting of gently used uniforms, medical wear and hospitality clothing. These high-quality donated items will be much valued and worn for a long time by recipients in the developing world.  The items will be bundled in Planet Aid’s warehouse and prepared for shipment. The final destination of the clothing is uncertain; however, the bundles will be shipped overseas by Planet Aid and purchased by a local used-clothing vendor.

The used clothing trade is robust in developing countries, and serves as a primary source of clothing for most. It is an enormous help for families as many are unable to afford new clothes for their children or themselves.

Rick Santari, Planet Aid Regional Manager, said, “We are so thankful for this donation from Virginia Linen Service and have already discussed future donations to Planet Aid. Pick up was seamless and the group has been great to work with. We look forward to continuing this great relationship”.
