3 Ways to Celebrate National Senior Citizens Day

“The best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.”  Andy Rooney

The contribution and value of senior citizens at home, in your family or community is something to be celebrated. In 1988, President Reagan issued a proclamation for that very reason making August 21st National Senior Citizens Day. As an 80+ year old company who serves customers in the assisted living industry, Your Linen Service recognizes and values the wisdom and achievements of our senior citizens. We hope that you take time today to do the same. Below are 3 suggestions to show your appreciation for senior citizens tomorrow:

  • Visit a senior in your life. Whether it is your parents, grandparents or great grandparents, take the time to visit and play games or go for a walk or travel somewhere with them.
  • Volunteer at an assisted living facility or nursing home near you. Make a difference by leading a group activity or outing, starting an afternoon social hour or just being there as someone they can chat with.
  • Create a memorable history project. Interview seniors in your life or at the local assisted living facility and experience the wisdom, “war stories” and advice they share. It can make for a great keepsake and a better conversation starter.

Happy Senior Citizens Day! If you need help with assisted living or healthcare linen rental or commercial laundry, contact Your Linen Service.
