TRI-CITIES-Employees of Petersburg based Virginia Linen Service and Virginia Textile Service teamed up to participate in a canned food drive during the month of December to help families in need in the Tri-Cities area. Each location set up a donation box for employees to drop off canned goods. Donations were collected every Friday and brought to the Crisis Assistance Response Emergency Shelter (CARES) Service Center off of East Washington Street. The CARES Service Shelter provides non-shelter assistance to individuals and families in the community who are at-risk of becoming homeless. All donated food was distributed throughout the area to families in need.
As 77-year old, local family-owned companies Virginia Linen Service and Virginia Textile Service take pride in its relationships with the surrounding community. This year’s food drive was an opportunity for each company to use its resources to help give back to its neighbors. Virginia Linen Service and Virginia Textile Service continue to explore new ways to become more active members in the area and hopes this Food Drive will inspire future projects to help those in the Petersburg area.
